Our Neighborhood Market

Every other day or so after class, we head to the market in search of food to make for dinner. Here is where we do our shopping, in the crowded streets of Banqiao. The great number people don't bother me so much, but it is a bit of a hassle trying to look at things while at the same time dodging mopeds. I really wish mopeds would stay clear of the market... Other than that, what a great selection of wonderful things! This market will be greatly missed upon our departure.

Near the front entrance of the market

 the just bananas stand

Here, it is common for stands to provide bowls in which you place whatever you desire to purchase in. Your selection is then weighed and priced accordingly.

various types of cooked chicken

dried shrimp (really good in sticky rice)

 semi-dried squid

dried fish

fish stand

fish paste goods and pork balls

assorted types of tofu (pressed tofu/bean curd in the front)

nothing goes to waste

assorted sushi rolls, filled with anything and everything
