Porto 2018

Porto, Portugal

We arrived into Porto in the morning rain. Usually, Portugal's weather resembles  that of Texas. However, we heard non-stop complaining of the cool air and endless rains that usually stop in April. Whatever the case, still better than roasting in the Texas summer heat, which has already reached over 100 at this point.

The vibe here is different from Lisbon. More calm, less chaotic. Great river views and smaller streets, beautiful architecture and awesome street art. And of course, never ending cans of preserved seafood.

Since plan A dinners seem to fail without reservations, which are hard when travelling on the fly, we wandered to plan B trusting or eyes and nose for the best spot as we passed each restaurant. The first night, we found a conserves bar where we had some stuffed squid, mackerel, and tuna for a snack before a walk and then round 2.

For a light dinner, we headed to a cool little place in search of Porto's best octopus. However, using only local and readily available ingredients, octopus was unfortunately not the on menu that evening. However, we did enjoy our meal!

Mussels with celery and chili, mushrooms

feels like a little cave              pork croquettes
